Township Alerts Minimize

Valve Repair Complete 5/20/15:  The valve repair on Strawberry Lane has been complete.  Water service to those in the affected area should, if not already, have been restored.

State of Michigan PRE Audit Letters:  The State of Michigan is currently conducting an audit of Principal Residence Exemptions (PRE’s) in our area.  The Principal Residence Exemption status of your property determines the millage rate used to calculate your taxes.

If you receive an audit letter from the State of Michigan, please DO NOT IGNORE IT!  You have 30 days in which to respond.  Once that 30 days has passed, there is no appeal process and your exemption will most likely be denied.  The denial will result in additional property taxes being billed to you, even if you no longer own the property in question.

Our assessing staff is here to assist you.  If you receive a PRE Audit Notice from the State of Michigan, please feel free to call the office and speak with Penny and she will assist you in any way that she can.

Baker's Field Cleanup:  Port Huron Township is looking for volunteers to help clean up Baker's Field on Saturday, June 6, 2015 from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm.  Lunch will be provided.  Volunteers are asked to bring gloves and rakes (if possible).

Port Huron Township Fishing Clinic:  The Port Huron Township Fishing Clinic will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2015, between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm at the Wm. P. Thompson Pond (40th Street Pond).  Rain date will be Sunday, June 14, 2015.

Baker's Field Boat Ramp Closure:  The boat ramp at Baker's Field will be closed on June 27, 2015 from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm for the Antique Fire Truck Show.  The public is welcome.

NOTICE:  Utility bill payments must be received on or before the due date to avoid incurring a 10% penalty.  Postmark will no longer be accepted.
