Issuance of Permits Policy
Please be aware that Permits for Building, Electrical, Plumbing, and Mechanical work are required to be submitted and approved prior to the start of any work. Permits must be delivered, faxed or emailed to the Township Building Department prior to work starting. In the event of an emergency, an email or a call can be made to the Building Department requesting assistance regarding the immediate issuance of a permit. Permit applications are available below on this webpage.
Normally building and zoning permits for new structures or additions are approved within 3 to 10 business days. Many of the electrical, plumbing and mechanical permits that are required for items like additional wiring for garage door openers, new water heaters, or gas fireplace inserts can be obtained the same day.
In an effort to ensure that unethical contractors or individuals are not attempting to default on meeting the requirements of State and Local codes and ordinances or bypass the required safety inspections, Municipal Civil Infraction fines will be issued when a permit has not been submitted to and approved by the Building Department prior to the start of work.
Please feel free to call the Township with any questions you may have. We will be very happy to assist you.
